I am trained and licensed in Maine, Massachusetts and Florida as a Marriage and Family Therapist. 

Currently, my work with couples is limited. My work with individuals is relational as you are part of a greater family system. A family's patterns of behavior influences the individual and the individual influences the family. Marriage and Family Therapy for an individual can be helpful at resolving a wide variety of emotional, relational and psychological problems.

Sometimes family or couple sessions become part of the individual work I offer clients.

My work is informed by my education in Marriage and Family Therapy, my training and study of neuroscience, the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman (Gottman Method,) Dr. Sue Johnson (Emotionally Focused Therapy,) Dr. Stan Tatkin (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy,) Dr. Shirley Glass (Not Just Friends) and others.  

My training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy includes Level 1: Bridging the Couple Chasm A New Research-Based Approach and Level 2: Assessment, Intervention and Co-Morbidities. 

I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.  

I am a past president of the Maine Division of the AAMFT.  I served as the division president in 2011 - 2012.  I worked toward "Educating Maine" about the MFT and the benefits of Marriage and Family Therapy.  Additionally, I have and continue to served at the national level of American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy on strategic planning committees of the Board of Directors. I was involved in lobbying for the national inclusion of Marriage and Family Therapists in Medicare. Inclusion in this program will begin in 2024.
